Quarter-Final 1st: Sri Lanka vs South Africa

Sri Lanka will be facing South Africa in the first quarter-final of 11th ICC world cup on 18 March, 2015 at Sydney Cricket Ground. Both teams played cricket at the Pool stage of competition and are in good form as well. 1996 world cup winner Sri Lanka will be looking to take benefit of Proteas choking nature and beat them whereas South Africa will be desperate to remove chokers tag.

South African batting has been good so far and scored 400 plus score two times in world cup but the fact is their batting failed to chase target. Proteas team also got problem with their fifth bowling option as they are not having proper bowling attack. Sri Lankan batting has been good so far in the tournament and top order is in good form. They are also lacking in the bowling just like South Africa. Hence it will be a good contest. It will be a 50-50 contest.

Quarter-Final 2nd: Bangladesh vs India

Bangladesh have played some great cricket throughout the tournament and they beat England to seal their quarter-final berth for the first time in history of cricket world cup. They showed great talent against strong New Zealand side. Bowling and batting both are balanced for Bangladesh. Defending champion Indian team is in great form and they haven’t lost single match in the competition so far.

India has defeated top teams like South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies in the pool stage of world cup and has been playing like champions. Indian bowling has been good and they bowled out all teams in played six matches of tournament. Hence they are really favorite to win second quarter-final match which is scheduled to play on 19 March at Melbourne Cricket Stadium. It’s going to be 75-25 battle in India-Bangladesh match.

Quarter-Final 3rd: Australia vs Pakistan

Australia to host Pakistan cricket team in the third quarter-final match of 2015 ICC world cup on 20 March at Adelaide Oval. Four times world champion Australian team has been playing some great cricket from past few months and they have played attacking game in world cup so far. They only lost one game in the competition against New Zealand.

Pakistan struggled at the beginning of tournament and lost two matches in the beginning of competition against India and West Indies but they came back strongly and won rest four matches to qualify in the quarter-finals. Their bowling has been doing good and they beat South African side comprehensively in the first stage of competition to boost confidence. Anything can happen in this match but still home team Australia is favorite to win and it’s 70-30 between Australia-Pakistan.

Quarter-Final 4th: New Zealand vs West Indies

New Zealand cricket team has been playing cricket in such a different way throughout the world cup and they are just aggressive in every department of tournament. Blackcaps have won all the matches in competition so far and are keen to lift world cup for the first time. On the other hand West Indies reached to the quarter-finals after so much if and so conditions.

West Indies batting and bowling hasn’t been too effective in the competition. Two times champion Caribbean team will look to beat one of the strongest teams of cricket world cup 2015 in fourth quarter-final.

What do you think, which four teams will qualify for the semi-finals?

  1. I think

Srilanka – South africa -> Srilanka Will Win

Banglades – India -> India Will Win

Australia – Pakistan -> Australia Will Win

New Zeland 0 West Indees -> West Indees Will Win

    • OMG Praveen,
You have knocked out South Africa and New Zealand from semi-finals.

It’s an awkard prediction from your side.
For me, South Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand will be in semi-finals of 2015 world cup.. 🙂

  2. West Indies belongs to Mr Lara. They have already won two world cups. For now they appeared not as a weak team but as an inconsistent team. There is still room for improvement. In my understanding they do possess excellent batting and excellent bowling. One thing I would like to suggest to them is they must have high level of confidence in them. Another point to mention here is they need to practice further. Side by side, I wish Cris Gayle, a legendary hero in cricket should be able to tackle the spinners. If they follow it up accordingly, I am sure they will qualify for the semi final and even reach final leading to success there as well. Wish you all the best. Congrats to Cris Gayle and Jason Holder in advance.

    • Yes Krishna, Brian Lara was awesome cricketer for West Indies and Gayle is the best for them in the current squad. If Gayle goes on his tone on 21st March against New Zealand, it may lead West Indies towards semi-final. Hope to seem Caribbean team return in the top form.. 🙂

  3. I predict the winners of the quarterfinals will be Sri Lanka, India, Australia and New Zealand. I think the SL vs. SA game will be an exciting match-up, but the experience of the SL will carry them through to the semi-finals. Of course, in cricket ANYTHING can happen. 😉

  4. I think it will go down like this!

The schedule of the knock-out matches is:

    Wed 18 March – QF3 – Sri Lanka (A3) v South Africa (B2), Sydney
    Cricket Ground (SCG)

    Thu 19 March – QF4 – Bangladesh (A4) v India (B1), Melbourne Cricket
    Ground (MCG)

    Fri 20 March – QF2 – Australia (A2) v Pakistan (B3), Adelaide Oval

    Sat 21 March – QF1 – New Zealand (A1) v West Indies (B4), Wellington
    Regional Stadium

    Tue 24 March – SF1 – Winner QF1 (NZ v WI) v Winner QF3 (SL v SA), Eden
    Park, Auckland

    Thu 26 March – SF2 – Winner QF2 (Aus v Pak) v Winner QF4 (BD v Ind), SCG, Sydney

Sun 29 March – Melbourne Cricket Ground INDIA VS NEW ZEALAND

  5. I think India, South Africa, Pakistan and west indies will win their matches and the two big teams Australia and New zeland will lost their matches from two unpredictible terams..Pak and wst indies.

    • That’s something interesting prediction from your side Shahid. Both Australia and New Zealand are in great form and you have knocked out them. Hopefully this happens.. 🙂

  6.
