Malik, Sami get place in Pakistan T20 squad against Zimbabwe

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced 15-member squad for two twenty20 internationals against Zimbabwe who have become first nation to tour Pakistan after 2009 incident during test match against Sri Lanka. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Sami have secured place in Pakistan team for these t20s.

PCB Chief Selector Haroon Rasheed mentioned that team was selected by keeping next year’s T20 World Cup in India. Experience and young players would be vital for team. He said, “We have selected a combination of youth and experience with an eye on (next year’s) World Twenty20 where we will need experience as well.”

Saeed Ajmal is not included in the side due to his form and current performance in Bangladesh. Mr Haroon mentioned that Ajmal will be playing county cricket to get comfortable with his action and get back in the form.

Haroon Rasheed told AFP, “In the absence of Ajmal who needs some time to adjust to his remodelled action, we needed someone who could bowl also and Malik has shown some good recent form. Ajmal is an asset and as a professional he knows he needs some time, so he will play for (Worcestershire) county in England to gain his confidence back.”
